Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens is seeking a Porter/Maintenance Worker II to join the on-site maintenance team at affordable housing properties. You’ll perform cleaning, routine repairs, and help prepare tenant spaces for occupancy, working with staff and contractors to keep systems safe and compliant.
Responsibilities include documenting service requests, assisting with cleaning schedules, and supporting 24/7 operations as needed.

POP Management is an in-house property management company of Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens. POP Management is the largest provider of affordable housing in Brooklyn & Queens. POP Management provides affordable housing to low-income seniors and to those with documented history of homelessness, substance abuse, and chronic mental illness. POP Management oversees and manages 26 senior buildings and 4 supportive residences consisting of formerly homeless adults and veterans. The objective of POP Management is to provide high quality housing that responds to the needs of low-income seniors and supportive populations.
The Porter/Maintenance Worker II works as an integral member of the on-site maintenance team to ensure safe affordable housing is provided and maintained for tenants who live in buildings with technological advancements featuring all-electric heating, cooling, and hot water systems, and incorporate resiliency components to create areas of refuge for residents and community neighbors, including back-up generator power for cooling, charging, sheltering in place and other emergency needs managed by POP Management, the housing office of Catholic Charities, Brooklyn & Queens. The Porter/Maintenance Worker II is responsible to maintain a regular cleaning schedule for the property. The Porte/Maintenance Worker II assists with making sure tenant apartments are prepared for occupancy and meet required safety standards. As part of a team, the Porter works closely with on-site recertification and social services staff as well as POPM Facilities staff.
The Porter/Maintenance Worker II ensures the Agency Mission and Best Practices are upheld, while promoted to tenants and the broader community in which our programs work. The Porter/Maintenance Worker II reports directly to the Property Manager. Day-to-day repair and maintenance task supervision will be managed by the on-site Superintendent.
