Position Highlights

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of buildings, equipment, and systems throughout the assigned facilities. Must possess the ability to perform general mechanical repairs. The Maintenance Technician II performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of facility equipment across various trades including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic tube systems, painting, carpentry, and related systems, in accordance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in a hospital or clinic environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned, following the Unit Specific Competency Check List, and works within the skill sets required of the job.
• Responds to emergency situations such as disaster response, utility failures, and floods to minimize impact on the facility.
• Conducts inspections, maintenance, and repairs while ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Understands basic blueprint terminology, components, symbols, and can interpret plans and schematics; locates features using floor plans; recognizes classifications of drawings; and performs general mechanical repairs.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools used in construction, safe handling, and maintenance procedures for tools.

Credentials and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least three (3) years of maintenance experience required; two (2) years of healthcare-specific maintenance experience may substitute for one (1) year of overall experience.
• Ability to work various shifts and weekends as needed.
• Willingness to travel between Moffitt facilities.
• Good driving record and ability to obtain Florida Driver's License within six months of employment.
