Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment as part of the Maintenance Department, with a standard Monday–Friday work week and periodic night/weekend overtime.

Immediate opening with on-the-job training available. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a 2-year technical degree preferred, and at least 6 months of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; a two-year technical degree is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment and basic computer literacy.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools and precision measurement devices to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and manufacturer instructions for maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using precision instruments and testing devices.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Conduct daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and other systems; perform repairs as required.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions as needed.
• Perform routine location and system safety checks and address any identified concerns.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, and lubrication; replace filters as necessary.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate moving parts per work procedures and manuals.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
