Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) seeks a Maintenance Mechanic I to assist with the maintenance, repair, and installation of hospital equipment and facility systems in SEARHC facilities across Southeast Alaska. The role involves completing work orders, preventive maintenance, and basic carpentry, with occasional travel to outlying communities.

Entry level position with no experience required; mechanical aptitude preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required and insurable under SEARHC policy.
• Complete Lockout/Tagout online course within 90 days of hire.
• Complete the eye wash weekly testing competency within 90 days.
• Safety- 10-hour OSHA Competency completed within 90 days.
• Life safety 101 Competency completed within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance of hospital systems, equipment and tools with PM program documentation.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, heating/cooling, plumbing systems and related equipment.
• Perform journeyman level carpentry tasks such as doors, cabinets, drywall and painting per facility manager requests.
• Complete work orders promptly and professionally according to priority.
• Operate shop tools and small engines; forklifts and other equipment as trained.
• Respond to emergencies; maintain records and locksmith supplies.
