Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team in the Maintenance Department. The role involves repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components.

Monday–Friday schedule with periodic night and weekend overtime; on-the-job training provided. You will use hand/power tools, read blueprints and manuals, and perform safety checks and boiler testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Lockout / Tagout experience required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, and engineering specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems via observation and testing instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing; adjust chemicals as needed.
• Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and repairs.
• Record meter readings of utilities and take corrective actions.
• Perform daily and weekly location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect motor, belts, fluids; replace filters and perform maintenance.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
