Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems and components in a Monday–Friday schedule with overtime possible.

Responsibilities include using tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment, ensuring safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and following specifications and manuals. On-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial equipment.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and engineering specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment systems and log results.
• Perform boiler daily/weekly safety checks and repairs as needed.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Conduct location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect, clean, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and parts.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
