Job summary

Set Free Alaska in Wasilla seeks a maintenance worker to perform general maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment. Duties include plumbing, electrical work, and basic carpentry tasks. The qualified candidate will have at least two years of maintenance experience and a current valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect and identify facilities, equipment or machines in need of repair.
• Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
• Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
• Order supplies and materials needed for cleaning, repairs, and maintenance.

Skills

Knowledge of general carpentry and repair

Knowledge of methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures

Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices

Knowledge of common janitorial equipment

Ability to use power and hand tools

Ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of maintenance and custodial experience
• Ability to:
  • Pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
  • Qualify for SFA’s commercial automobile insurance
• A current valid driver’s license

Skills required

• Knowledge of:
  • General carpentry and repair
  • Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Common janitorial equipment (i.e. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (i.e vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)
• Ability to:
  • Use power and hand tools
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Build good rapport with shareholders, clients and staff
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Job responsibilities

• Orders supplies and materials needed for cleaning, repairs, and maintenance
• Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment
