Qualifications

• Preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, locks, fixtures).
• Basic plumbing repairs (leaks, faucets, drains) and restroom facilities maintenance.
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventories of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Must work independently, safely, and professionally with SOPs.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license required; age 19+ with one year of driving experience.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; respond to emergency calls.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.

Job Summary

This position performs specialized duties in the maintenance and repair of Borough buildings.

Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

This position may be called in to provide support outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.

Relevant experience should include: maintenance of building interiors and exteriors; performing minor carpentry, drywall repair, painting, flooring repairs, and general upkeep; preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, locks, and fixtures; basic plumbing repairs such as repairing leaks, replacing faucets, unclogging drains, and maintaining restroom facilities; keeping accurate maintenance logs, work order documentation, and inventories of tools, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to work independently, safely, and professionally, with demonstrated experience following and applying standard operating procedures

Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and respond to emergency calls.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
