Job Description
Purpose and Scope

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performingbeginner-level maintenance, repairs, and installations on campusbuildings, equipment, and systems. This position supports the dailyoperations of the college by ensuring a safe, functional, andwell-maintained environment for students, faculty, and staff.

This role works collaboratively across LSC campuses on specialprojects, recommend process improvement, and implement bestpractices in standard operating procedures (SOPs) acrossfunctional

Essential Job Functions
  1. Conduct routine inspections of buildings, including classrooms,offices, and common areas
  2. Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timelymanner
  3. Assist in general carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs
  4. Maintain and repair doors and windows
  5. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments tocomplete projects and repairs
  6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, workorders, and equipment performance
  7. Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles necessaryfor assigned tasks
  8. Ensure compliance with safety and Property Servicesexpectations
  9. Provide emergency on-call support as required
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and general building systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electricalissues
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with work order management systems preferred
Physical Abilities
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confinedspaces, and climb ladders
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 50 feet, including onladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/ornegligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry,push, pull, or otherwise move objects and/or equipment.
  • An ability to express or exchange ideas verbally, written, andconvey detailed instructions accurately and clearly.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for longdistances or moving from one work site to another
  • Proficient in tasks that involve the use of hands and fingers,such as gripping, manipulating tools, or operating equipment
Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Must be capable of performing labor-intensive work associatedwith maintenance
  • Must be capable of safely operating powered equipment such as:Electrical tools and equipment, voltage meters, testing equipment,saws drills, and be able to determine which equipment to use for aparticular purpose
  • May regularly travel to different LSC locations
  • May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations ifnecessary
  • May need to work weekends and untraditional hours ifnecessary
  • This position is classified as an essential employee, whichmeans the individual may be required to report to work duringcollege closures or emergencies to support recovery and reopeningefforts
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible forinsurance coverage
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year experience in building maintenance, facilities,or related field
  • Experience in a campus or institutional setting
  • Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work
Salary

Hiring salary range is: $33,540 - $38,571

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation.
