Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform interior and exterior facility repairs under the direction of the Facility Manager. The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry for a NYC DHS contract shelter facility, with attention to safety and code compliance.

Some evening and weekend work may be required, and vaccination is required. The ideal candidate has at least two years of repair experience, strong problem solving and the ability to read/interpret work orders,

Qualifications

• Two years of repair/mechanical experience required, including carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical.

Responsibilities

• Escort outside contractors, vendors and inspectors as needed.
• Perform repairs not requiring a licensed contractor.
• Troubleshoot and repair light electrical and plumbing outlets, switches, fixtures, drains, sinks, tubs and toilets.
• Service HVAC units, replace filters and perform cleaning.
• Repair damaged sheetrock and perform finish work/painting.
• Repair windows, doors and locks; install room furniture.
• Repair damage to client rooms, furniture and fixtures.
• Handle all mechanical work on unit turnovers and complete work orders.
• Report negative building conditions to the Facility Manager.
