JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician
FLSA: Non-exempt
DIVISION: Services-Facilities
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager
LOCATION: Various, NYC
SALARY: $21.63 per hour
SUMMARY:The Maintenance Mechanic, under the direction of the Facility Manager, performs all necessary interior and exterior facility repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work, of a NYC DHS contract shelter facility. The mechanic keeps the facility in good working order using troubleshooting techniques and performing repairs as needed. This position requires good judgment and understanding of industry standard repairs, code requirements and worker safety. Position may require some evening and weekend hours. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or GED with ability to communicate (written and verbal) in English is required. Minimum of two years of repair/mechanical experience is required, including carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical. Must have good math skills, Trade/Technical school training is a plus. Knowledge of local NYC laws regarding building maintenance is preferred but willingness to learn is essential. Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs.
