Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain the facility’s infrastructure, inspect machinery, and handle electrical components. This role is based in Long Island City, Queens, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to maintenance schedules.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in general maintenance and extensive HVAC experience, plus hands-on electrical skills. The organization offers comprehensive benefits and a mission-driven work environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of general maintenance experience or training.
• Minimum 5–10 years HVAC experience.
• Experience installing and repairing electrical apparatus and components.

Responsibilities

• Keeps facilities in compliance and in good appearance.
• Performs general repairs across facilities.
• Conducts visual walk-throughs upon arrival and as needed.
• Maintains and keeps tools in good working order.
• Keeps maintenance areas neat and orderly and inventories tools.
• Checks fuel oil levels.
• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment as necessary.
• Dismantles defective machines and installs replacement parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and related parts.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of on-hand supplies.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus including transformers and wiring.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs gauges, valves and regulators.
