Job summary

New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking a HVAC & Facilities Systems Technician to maintain and service mechanical equipment, control systems, and HVAC within its NYC facilities. The role reports to the Chief of Office & Facilities Management and requires performing preventative maintenance to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Responsibilities include inspections, servicing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, coordinating repairs with vendors, and acting as Fire Safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least three years’ professional office experience.
• Experience in design, operation, and maintenance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth operation.
• Regularly service HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to prevent malfunctions.
• Ensure HVAC and other systems operate efficiently and safely.
• Coordinate repairs with vendors and building maintenance teams for cost-effective work.
• Arrange replacement parts and coordinate with outside contractors for specialized tasks.
• Understand and use Building Management System (BMS) and other maintenance software.
• Ensure activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
• Assist with general tasks like furniture arrangement and mailroom support.
• Serve as Fire Safety Warden and coordinate fire drills with building management.
• Respond to emergencies outside business hours.
