Job summary

FirstService Residential is seeking a Maintenance Staff Member in Fort Lauderdale, FL to ensure mechanical systems and common areas are functional and clean. The role involves routine floor walks, safety adherence, painting touch-ups, and completing daily work orders.

The position requires 2 years in building trades or related maintenance, strong communication, and customer service skills. Pay is $21-$22 per hour with a Mon-Fri schedule and on-call occasionally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• 2 years general experience in building trades, repair and maintenance or handy work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Multilingual abilities are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Routinely walks floors including roof checking for problems and lights out and reports back to supervisors.
• Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work.
• Maintains working relationship with building staff.
• Paints common areas and performs touch-ups as needed, inspecting areas that need paint and advising the manager.
• Completes daily work orders as scheduled.
• Maintains assigned equipment in good working condition.
• Performs casual labor such as lifting/moving heavy items following safety procedures.
• Performs maintenance replacement and repairs in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, flooring and other building repairs.
• Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
• Performs maintenance work where a permit is not required.
