Job description

Shift:

Monday-Friday 2pm-10:30pm

Purpose and Scope:

Maintain, repair, calibrate, adapt and improve controls, power supplies and equipment in a timely manner to assure that production and uptime goals are met and equipment is proactively maintained. Also responsible for leading and/or assisting in development of work instructions, training and certifying team members and assisting in special projects.

Safety Expectations:

  1. Responsible for performing all job requirements in a safe manner and being a proactive safety role model with co-workers.
  2. Responsible for correcting/reporting unsafe behaviors or equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  3. Responsible for cleanliness within the work department.
  4. Responsible for attending all monthly safety training meetings.
  5. Encouraged to engage in extracurricular safety programs (ie: 1st responders, safety meeting presenters, safety committee, audits).

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the maintenance of all equipment. Ability to obtain thorough technical knowledge of plant operations, equipment and processes.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance and re-build parts as required.
  3. Perform all plumbing installation and repairs as necessary.
  4. Inventory and controls stock of supplies. Use iMaint to determine inventory levels.
  5. Perform duties in a safe manner using all approved safety equipment as instructed.
  6. Perform duties in accordance with business process documentation.
  7. Maintain an effective working relationship with all department employees.
  8. Apply good work habits.
  9. Maintain a neat and orderly working area throughout the work day. Audit others work areas.
  10. Complete Tru Vue Train the Trainer program and utilize skills training level 1 and 2 Maintenance Technicians.
  11. Review and document all PM's (Preventative Maintenance) for new equipment.
  12. Specify equipment for upgrades and repairs.
  13. Contact vendors to quote prices for new products/services and submit purchase order requests.
  14. Perform maintenance and lead set-up on all equipment and systems according to established procedures in a proactive quality-sensitive manner with the objective to improve equipment uptime and performance.
  15. Disassemble and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures and perform the necessary repairs.
  16. Root Cause Analysis:
    1. Identify failure through root cause analysis
    2. Document findings
    3. Analyze data for trending/trend analysis
  17. Cross train in related functions and assist others in obtaining cross-functional capabilities. Occasionally operate fully setup CNC equipment and fabricate and weld simple details.
  18. Assist with inventory and maintenance of materials and components; including coater internal drive components, dark space collars, outboard supports, small viewports, shielding, and other coater components.
  19. Learn and utilize knowledge of target material usage and coater setups, cathode rebuilding, and maintenance for cathodes, cathode targets, and target tubes, including wire wheeling.
  20. Learn, understand, and follow documented work procedures, including operational and troubleshooting procedures, such as daily check-lists and basic glass washer, sand blaster, and overhead crane set-up, operation and repair procedures and related paperwork.
  21. Perform plant electronic and mechanical equipment calibration (metrology) program to ensure accurate process control parameters.
  22. Learn, maintain, and upgrade PC Based software packages and control area network systems and software to ensure full utilization of programmable devices such as PLC’s, Servo’s, Digital Process Controllers, Robots, etc.
  23. Diagnose and repair all electrical, electronic, and control software related breakdowns on production equipment. Perform board level repairs on electronic equipment.
  24. Utilize Lean Sigma and Continuous Improvement techniques to improve overall plant operations (safety, quality, productivity, OEE).
  25. Follow plant lockout procedures and all applicable personal and Electrical Safety guidelines.
  26. Assist and back up the Maintenance Manager in general direction and coaching of individuals and the team, coordination and delegation of work assignments, and other items beneficial to the success of the team.
  27. Support two-way communication into and out of the maintenance group.
  28. Maintain detailed and organized data records for the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Able to use iMaint (CMMS) to document all work. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  2. General fabrication skills such as welding (ARC, MIG & TIG), torch, cutting equipment, grinders, and able to follow simple blue prints.
  3. Able to obtain and maintain current license for powered industrial equipment.
  4. Able to perform complex plumbing installation and repairs.
  5. Able to use mechanical measuring devices and complex testing equipment (Strip Chart Recorder, O-scope, VOM, pH and Conductivity meters) and perform calibrations as required.
  6. Able to identify programming problems related to programmable devices such as PLC’s, Servo’s, Digital Process Controllers, Robots, etc., and diagnose and assist in repairing deficiencies.
  7. Able to read basic electrical blue prints and meters.
  8. Able to troubleshoot and repair power supplies.
  9. Able to write SOP's and review for edits and technical accuracy.
  10. Able to troubleshoot without direct supervision and train others in troubleshooting.
  11. Able to learn Lean Sigma and Continuous Improvement techniques to improve overall plant operations (safety, quality, productivity, OEE).

Education and Experience: (minimum requirements)

  1. High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  2. 10+ years of experience or technical degree in related field and 8 years of experience as industrial maintenance mechanic or 4 year degree and 4 - 6 years of experience as industrial maintenance mechanic
  3. Proven ability in mechanical and electrical repair
  4. Specific knowledge of vacuum systems preferred
  5. Ability to use lathe and mill to manufacture parts

The noise level in the production environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
