JOB DESCRIPTION - DALLAS TRAILER REPAIR CO.

$$$$-2ND AND 3RD SHIFT SIGN-ON BONUS $3000 FOR QUALIFYING CANDIDATES, PAID IN TWO INSTALLMENTS: $1500 IN 90 DAYS AND $1500 IN 180 DAYS!$$$$

DIESEL TECHNICIAN / Refrigeration a Plus

Salary: $20.00 - $45.00/hr [Depending on location and experience]

Job Summary

This position is responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on trucks/vehicles and related equipment. Successful candidates should have solid knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, along with strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team is essential.

Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on starting & charging systems, cooling, electrical systems, and fault codes.
  • Inspect, analyze, and diagnose trucks/vehicles and related equipment for mechanical issues and faulty or replacement parts.
  • Perform leak detection, compressor replacements, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements, and engine seal replacements following manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and federal inspections on trailers, trucks/vehicles, and related equipment.
  • Document repair actions, follow checklists and protocols, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace, including tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and practices.
  • Work independently and support team members effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge-Based Requirements

  • Knowledge of diesel vehicle mechanical systems (e.g., transmission, exhaust, electrical).
  • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and use of hand and power tools, including measurement tools like calipers.
  • ASE certifications are highly desired but not required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in transport refrigeration or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment knowledge/skill tests.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read and write in English for documentation purposes.
  • Own tools, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection are required.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year background check and drug test/medical physical exam.

Physical Demands/Abilities

  • Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and poles.
  • Bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel as required.
  • Maintain balance and perform repetitive motions.
  • Communicate effectively and hear detailed instructions.
  • Close visual acuity for inspecting parts, reading measurement devices, and operating equipment.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a shop setting, both indoors and outdoors, exposed to weather, temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot, mold, noise, and potential hazards like moving vehicles and mechanical parts. Proper safety procedures must be followed at all times.
