This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, installing, and upgrading industrial machinery and control systems in a heavy industrial steel environment. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, supports safe and reliable production, and contributes to a strong safety-focused and team-oriented culture on a union-represented third shift.
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install, and upgrade industrial machinery and control systems to support reliable production operations.
Read, edit, and create PLC ladder logic to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
Maintain production equipment, including both mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Follow and support a preventative maintenance program, performing scheduled PMs on machinery and documenting work as required.
Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
Perform MIG and stick welding, burning, and cutting to complete machinery repairs and modifications.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, including 480V and 3-phase systems, AC/DC circuits, and various voltage levels.
Interpret and use electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints to guide maintenance and repair work.
Maintain a safe work environment by consistently following safety procedures and contributing to a strong safety culture.
Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement.
Use personally owned tools to perform daily maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently.
Support upgrades and improvements to machinery and control systems as the facility grows and expands.
At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, or a minimum of 3 years of experience combined with technical schooling.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with a preference for experience that is 50% or more on the electrical side.
Hands-on experience working with 480V, AC/DC systems, and 110V, 220V, and 480V circuits.
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial environment.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including 480V and 3-phase systems.
PLC troubleshooting experience, including working with PLC ladder logic.
Basic welding skills, with MIG or stick welding preferred, for machinery repair and fabrication.
Ownership and regular use of personal tools suitable for industrial maintenance work.
Ability to work safely and consistently follow established safety procedures in a heavy industrial environment.
Experience repairing cranes in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Experience working on conveyors, stamping presses, reduction mills, slitters, and presses.
PLC programming experience in addition to PLC troubleshooting.
Prior experience in a multi-craft maintenance role within a union shop environment.
Familiarity with industrial steel manufacturing or similar heavy industrial operations.
Comfort working on off-shift or third shift schedules.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $76960.00/yr.
