Job summary

ALS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Twin Falls. You’ll perform general building maintenance, replace bulbs, manage carpentry, plumbing tasks, and assist with lab equipment upkeep.

You’ll work under general supervision, show strong mechanical aptitude, and help keep safety policies and maintenance logs up to date. This role requires Grade 12 and hands-on repairs experience; forklift certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma required.
• Some experience in general repairs and operations preferred.
• Experience with plumbing, carpentry, drywall and painting is an asset.
• Forklift certificate or experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting.
• General grounds keeping duties.
• Maintain adequate stock of equipment spare parts.
• Keep all maintenance log books and service records up to date.
• Must be available as needed for emergency call-outs.
• Purchase and transport of building materials and maintenance supplies.
• Assist with minor building repairs such as painting basic carpentry and basic plumbing.
• Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment such as changing air and water filters, cleaning scrubber nozzles and greasing bearings.
• Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and a/c units, blowers, scrubbers, jaw crushers and ring mills.
• Light plumbing and carpentry work.
• Welding.
• Work with contractors and/or suppliers.
• Observe safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies.
• Be available for on-call projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft office
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good written and oral communications skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under general supervision
• Ability to work under pressure and mee deadlines

Required Qualifications:

• Grade 12 diploma.
• Some experience in general repairs and operational is preferred
• Experience working with plumbing, carpentry, drywall and/or painting will be an asset
• Experience working with sample Prep equipment an asset
• Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling and working with machines
• Comfortable in environments with high noise levels
• Ability to sit a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive task
