Job summary

ALS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs and routine maintenance on buildings and lab equipment. You will replace light bulbs, tiles, perform painting, and support basic carpentry, plumbing, and grinding tasks.

You may be called for emergency projects and must maintain accurate maintenance logs and inventory of spare parts. The role requires a Grade 12 diploma, basic Microsoft Office skills, and strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; general repairs experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills; able to work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building and equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain log books and service records; handle emergency call-outs as needed.
• Assist with building repairs, basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and lab equipment maintenance.

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.As the Maintenance Technician this role will consist primarily of performing repairs and maintenance to the building and equipment.Specific Responsibilities:· General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting.· General grounds keeping duties· Maintain adequate stock of equipment spare parts· Keep all maintenance log books and service records up to date· Must be available as needed for emergency call-outs· Purchase and transport of building materials and maintenance supplies· Assist with minor building repairs such as painting basic carpentry and basic plumbing , etc· Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment i.e. changing air and water filters, cleaning scrubber nozzles and greasing bearings· Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and a/c units, blowers.
