Job summary

ALS in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) to handle client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities include ringing, sieving, crushing, loading ovens, maintaining logs, and keeping a clean, safe work area under supervision. You will support layout tasks and assist with various duties as needed to ensure accurate testing results.

Qualifications

• Good hand-eye coordination and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension and basic English communication are required.

About the role

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required
• Analytical quality Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

About you

• Good hand-eye coordination

Required Qualifications

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; sometimes continuously (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
• Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment
