Job summary

BG Staffing is seeking a skilled Commercial Building Technician for the Aspiria Campus in Overland Park, KS. This role focuses on hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting building systems, and preventative care to keep facilities safe and functional.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with some flexibility. Candidates should be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently while coordinating with a Property Manager.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roofs and drains.
• Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, and pneumatic controls.
• Assist with installation, repair, and modification of building systems and equipment.
• Carry out general building repairs such as carpentry, painting, ceilings, and door hardware.
• Inspect buildings and grounds for safety issues and maintenance needs.
• Respond to emergencies and tenant maintenance requests promptly.
• Maintain fire and life safety equipment and related systems.
• Oversee seasonal grounds tasks including snow removal when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance operations, equipment performance, and cost efficiency.

Commercial Building Technician

Location: Aspiria Campus | Overland Park, KS

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $27.00 - $29.00 plus up to 5% of the annual base in bonus opportunity

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with some flexibility for earlier start and end times based on team coverage.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Building Technician to maintain and repair commercial buildings and their operating systems at the Aspiria Campus in Overland Park, KS.

In this role, you will perform hands‑on maintenance, troubleshoot building systems, complete preventative maintenance, and respond to tenant service requests. You will work closely with a Property Manager to ensure assigned buildings remain safe, functional, and well‑maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, roofs, and drains.
• Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and other building equipment.
• Assist with the installation, repair, and modification of building systems and equipment.
• Complete general building repairs, including carpentry, painting, ceiling tiles, door hardware, and other interior finishes.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify safety concerns, malfunctions, and maintenance needs.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and tenant maintenance requests.
• Maintain and operate fire and life safety equipment, including fire alarms, fire pumps, and related systems, as assigned.
• Maintain grounds and perform seasonal duties, including snow removal when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance operations, equipment performance, and cost efficiency.
• Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment used for building and grounds maintenance.

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

• Regular schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Some flexibility in start and end times may be available based on team coverage.
• Participate in a rotating, one‑week standby schedule shared among a team of four technicians.
• Standby responses are paid at a guaranteed minimum.
• New hires typically join the rotation after 3–4 months, depending on experience and readiness to work independently.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience maintaining commercial buildings and is comfortable troubleshooting a variety of building systems. They should be dependable, safety‑conscious, customer‑service‑oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating with property management.

Preferred experience includes:

• Commercial building or facilities maintenance.
• HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Preventative maintenance and general building repairs.
• Fire and life safety systems.
• Carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance.
• Responding to service requests and emergency maintenance issues.
