Job summary

Placon is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician in Plymouth, MN to keep high-speed production running. You will troubleshoot electro‑mechanical systems, read schematics, and perform breakdown, corrective, and preventive maintenance on all production equipment on the 5:00 am – 1:00 pm shift.

This hands-on role requires diagnosing complex machinery, integrating electrical control systems for new or rebuilt machines, building and fabricating control panels, and helping improve PM programs

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electro‑Mechanical Technology or related field with 2+ years of industrial maintenance or 6+ years of maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder logic.
  • Solid understanding of PLCs, servo systems, and automated machine controls.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance: breakdown, corrective, and preventive electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical maintenance on production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot & repair: diagnose and repair complex production and auxiliary equipment with minimal supervision.
  • System integration: integrate electrical control systems for new/rebuilt machinery and process improvements.
  • Build & fabricate: specify, build, rebuild, install, and fabricate electronic control systems.
  • Optimize programs: monitor machine operations and assist in developing PM programs to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Safety & compliance: ensure machinery and facilities comply with OSHA, NEC, and LOTO protocols.
  • Collaborate: work with Maintenance Lead and team to execute work orders on schedule.

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician who enjoys solving complex technical problems on the fly, keeping high-speed production running, and helping our operations grow. Compensation
  • Starting Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (Dependent on experience).
Work Schedule
  • Full-time, onsite role based in Plymouth, MN.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday / 5:00 am – 1:00 pm; 8 hour shift‑shift hours may change.
  • Ability to arrive as early as 5:00 am is preferred, but not required.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform Maintenance: Provide breakdown, corrective, and preventive electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical maintenance on all production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex production and auxiliary equipment to 'as built' condition with minimal supervision.
  • System Integration: Integrate electrical control systems for new/rebuilt machinery, facilities equipment, and process improvements.
  • Build & Fabricate: Participate in the specification, building, rebuilding, installation, and fabrication of electronic control systems.
  • Optimize Programs: Monitor machine operations and assist in developing preventive maintenance (PM) programs to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery and facilities comply with applicable safety codes, including OSHA, National Electric Code (NEC), and LOTO protocols.
  • Collaborate: Partner with the Maintenance Lead and team to execute work orders according to schedule and improve machine operations.
What You Bring
  • Education & Experience: Associate degree in Electro‑Mechanical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related field plus 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience OR 6+ years of increasingly complex industrial maintenance experience.
  • Technical Blueprints: Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC Ladder logic programs.
  • Systems Expertise: Solid understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), digital/analog servo systems, and automated machine controls.
  • Shop Skills: Competency using electronic test equipment, hand/powered tools, and standard welding techniques (soldering, ARC, MIG).
  • Certifications: Ability to safely operate motorized vehicles including forklifts and elevated work platforms.
  • Physical Capability: Comfortable moving freely throughout the facility, working on your feet, and occasionally lifting up to 50+ lbs.
  • Mindset: A self‑starter attitude with strong interpersonal skills, a team‑oriented mindset, and a stellar history of working safely.
