Placon is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager to oversee our Madison, WI facility and drive manufacturing excellence. You will lead engineering, maintenance, facilities, and capital projects while advancing continuous improvement and safety across the site.

The role emphasizes equipment reliability, budget management, and strong people leadership to build high-performing teams focused on safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Five years of management experience leading engineering and maintenance functions.
• Strong leadership and employee development skills.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage equipment, tooling, facilities engineering, and maintenance functions.
• Develop and manage the annual capital budget and three-year capital plan.
• Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate engineering and maintenance team members.
• Recruit, hire, train, and retain a competent and engaged workforce.
• Manage capital projects from development through implementation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime and efficiency.
• Partner with Environmental, Health & Safety leadership to ensure OSHA and environmental compliance.
• Develop and direct preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Implement equipment and tooling improvement plans to reduce downtime.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, SQF, ISO 13485, and other applicable quality standards.
• Maintain engineering budgets and analyze financial performance.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Establish and maintain 5S programs throughout manufacturing operations.

What You Bring

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management abilities
• Understanding of financial and business principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard business software
