Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking a Trainee Industrial Maintenance & Controls Technician to join our Minnesota production team. You will work with seasoned techs to troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing equipment and control systems.

The role emphasizes practical learning with PLCs, HMI, VFDs, motors, and associated electronics. Training and mentorship are provided; the schedule is 2 on/2 off with 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, wage $22–$30/hr, and on-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year college/technical certificate or 6–12 months related training.
• 1–3 years in a multi-shift manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and electronic control system issues.
• Gain hands-on exposure to PLC programming, HMI systems, and computer network communications.
• Learn to install, calibrate, clean, and repair process control instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes, and gauges.
• Assist in servicing and repairing VFDs, electric motors, starters, and servo motors.
• Help repair and maintain mechanical machinery, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Learn to safely operate fabrication tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders.
• Develop skills in arc and wire-feed welding for equipment modifications and repairs.
• Assist with routine preventative maintenance tasks adhering to a Planned Maintenance Program.

We are seeking an eager, motivated Trainee Industrial Maintenance & Controls Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will work side-by-side with experienced technicians to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain sophisticated manufacturing equipment and electronic control systems. If you have a solid mechanical aptitude, a basic understanding of electronics, and a strong desire to learn, we will provide the training and mentorship you need to succeed!

• Schedule: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on - Rotating scheduled
• Hours: 6:00AM - 6:00 PM
• Wage: $22.00 -$30.00+/HR

Working hours

Working hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Various Shifts Available)

Skills

• Ability to operate lathe, drill press, grinder and other tools in the fabrication and repair of equipment.
• Ability to operate arc and wire-feed welders.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic driven controls and equipment.
• Proficient in computer applications to maintain computerized maintenance system.
• Ability to service and repair VFD???s, electric motors, starters and servo motors in a production environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver???s license.
• Must pass Companys forklift certification training.
