Overview
The Maintenance Technician in the Maintenance is primarily responsible for the expert repair and maintenance of equipment and facility at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines
- Ensure operation of High-Tech Glass Fabrication Equipment is working properly
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive working relationships with various departments
- Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor
- Transport various tools throughout the plant for use while maintaining equipment
- Operate drill press, and other shop equipment
- Change out barrels and drums, as needed
- Complete preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machinery
- Utilize diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions and complete repairs
- Responsible for electrical repair involving motors, controls, and other equipment
- Some parts are fabricated for repair using machine shop instruments and equipment
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks
- Maintain continuity among department teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties diagnose faulty operation; provide recommendations
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making, ideas, and all aspects relating to the Cardinal IG team
- Ability to modify equipment programs as needed
- Use PLCs to troubleshoot equipment issues. May make program modifications as necessary
- Diagnose errors or technical issues and suggest proper solutions
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear
- Maintain, install, repair, replace, and align equipment and components
- Assist and oversee large maintenance projects
- Test-run repaired machines to verify the adequacy of repairs
- Participate in installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
- Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area
- Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively
- May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines
- Requires regular in-person attendance
Workplace Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects
- Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment
- Ability to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Maintenance working on high-tech automated equipment required
- Industrial maintenance experience, robotics and automation systems required
- PLC experience preferred
- Experience working with tools and mechanical equipment required
- Electrical experience required

Shift & Pay
Shift: 3rd Shift — Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 pm – 7:00 am
Pay: Depending on work experience, starting at $25 plus $2.00 shift differential
Bonus: Potential Monthly Profit Sharing
