Job summary

United States Cold Storage Inc in Wilmington, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the engineering team in keeping facilities operational. The role covers preventive maintenance, painting, forklift battery care, and safety inspections to ensure reliable cold-chain operations.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, basic hand and power tool knowledge, and a background in maintenance.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Previous maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of general hand and power tools.
Experience with preventative maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide general support to the maintenance department when training allows.
Foster professionalism and collaboration with facility management and team members.
Complete painting assignments, including work at heights and in cold temperatures.
Maintain and replace forklift batteries; perform routine inspections.
Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks (fire extinguishers, logs, emergency lighting, eyewash).
Conduct regular building maintenance for cleanliness, safety and functionality.
Accurately complete work orders and document maintenance activities.
Participate in equipment training for safe maintenance, inspection and repair.
Support emergency response efforts as required.
Complete annual emergency response physicals (lung capacity and hearing tests).
Advanced technicians may assist with entry-level refrigeration tasks under supervision.
