Job summary

UniFirst seeks a reliable Maintenance Supervisor to ensure facility equipment runs efficiently and to identify process improvements. The role follows a standard Monday–Friday schedule with periodic night/weekend overtime and on-the-job training.

You will diagnose issues, oversee preventive maintenance, manage safety and regulatory compliance, and lead a team across shifts while coordinating with the Production Manager on budget and parts.

Qualifications

  • High school and/or GED preferred.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment including wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing.
  • Minimum of 3 years repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervising maintenance personnel preferred.
  • Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, vendor management, and maintenance management systems is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; English maintenance literature.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with hand & power tools.
  • Lockout / Tagout experience.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed; lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective action using blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Perform basic welding to repair facilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs and control systems.
  • Perform and assign preventive maintenance on facility and production assets.
  • Follow manuals and specifications on a documented schedule.
  • Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment and adjust chemicals as required.
  • Manage and assign all equipment maintenance across shifts.
  • Oversee safety and regulatory compliance within the maintenance department.
  • Train and develop maintenance staff; monitor training status.
  • Operate a CMMS and collaborate with Production Manager on budget, parts and labor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
