Job summary

Greystar in Herndon, VA, is seeking a maintenance technician to ensure buildings, grounds, and common areas meet Greystar standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality. You will diagnose, repair, and perform routine upkeep based on resident requests and preventative maintenance schedules.

The role includes managing make-ready tasks for vacant units, inspecting work for quality, and assisting with budget and inventory while supporting cost-containment initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or related experience and training.
• Experience in property management maintenance or related trade.
• Must provide own hand tools unless prohibited by State law and be skilled in safe use of hand tools and measuring devices.
• Ability to apply logical thinking to identify and fix problems.
• Proficiency in customer service and interpersonal communication with residents and team members.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively for internal and external interactions.
• Proficiency with basic software to maintain records; property management system experience preferred.
• Mathematical skills to handle numbers in financial and administrative documents.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair maintenance issues on the community by following policies, safety standards, and codes.
• Oversee make-ready process for vacant units, prepare punch lists, schedule vendors, and inspect completed work.
• Set standards for cleanliness and appearance of grounds, exteriors, interiors, and common areas to reflect Greystar quality.
• Periodically inspect work by staff and contractors, and develop corrective action plans as needed.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies; assist Community Manager with budgeting and cost control.
