Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in San Francisco, CA to lead a maintenance team, oversee repairs, and manage preventive maintenance across the property portfolio. The role ensures safety compliance, efficient operations, and resident satisfaction.

You will work within the maintenance budget, coordinate with vendors, and be on-call for emergencies as needed. A strong background in electrical/plumbing repair and HVAC is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3-5+ years in property management or related experience.
• HVAC and/or CPO license preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair; awareness of hazards (asbestos, lead, mold, radon).
• Ability to use a smartphone for property operations apps; basic Microsoft Office and property management software.
• Able to read, write and speak English; strong organizational and time-management skills; able to supervise 2+ associates.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a team of maintenance technicians and train staff.
• Perform and oversee repairs on property systems and address resident requests.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems.
• Conduct regular property inspections and ensure safety regulations compliance.
• Manage maintenance budget, inventory, and vendor contracts.
• Be on-call for after-hours emergencies.
• Maintain records in SightPlan or trackers and report status.
• Coordinate with stakeholders for large projects.
