Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the community maintenance team, overseeing repairs and preventive maintenance while ensuring safety, code compliance, and resident satisfaction in Oakland.

The role requires 3–5+ years in property management, HVAC or CPO license preferred, and strong knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. Flexibility for after-hours work and strong vendor coordination are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5+ years in property management or related experience.
• HVAC and/or CPO license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a maintenance team, assign tasks, ensure high standards.
• Perform and oversee repairs on property systems and equipment; prioritize resident work orders.
• Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule and ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, codes).
• Manage budget, inventory, quotes, and vendor contracts; coordinate with stakeholders and contractors.
• Be available for after-hours emergencies and communicate with residents professionally.
