Job Description:

The Maintenance Supervisor at Connect Transit provides direct supervision to the Maintenance Foreman, Mechanics, Service Technicians, and Custodians under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, coordinating the day to day operations of the entire Maintenance Department (fleet and facilities), ensuring a high quality fleet, and proper flow of procedures. Fleet includes heavy duty diesel and electric buses, medium duty gasoline and electric buses, light duty gasoline and diesel vehicles, etc. Facilities include Administration and Maintenance buildings and grounds, bus stops, bus shelters, future Downtown transit center, etc.

Wages:

$50,000 - $60,000 annually, dependent on qualifications

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Supervise, schedule, and assign work to Maintenance staff
  • Work with Maintenance staff to arrange for scheduled and routine maintenance of fleet and equipment, determine types of repairs, estimate time of completion, and road test vehicles
  • Review employee’s progress on assigned task for compliance with Connect Transit Maintenance standards, identify delayed repairs, and take appropriate action to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
  • Inspect all facilities; Arrange and schedule routine maintenance/repairs necessary in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and organized vehicle and employee records
  • Research and recommend equipment purchases
  • Maintain and monitor inventory; make appropriate purchases in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, utilizing cost efficient measures where applicable
  • Inspect vehicles for cleanliness via quality control process and order corrective maintenance as needed
  • Assist with and monitor quality control procedures and inspections
  • Run PMI schedule daily to ensure PMI on time performance is compliant with Federal and internal goals
  • Prepare payroll accurately for Maintenance Manager review; approve overtime and document reasoning for overtime, sick leave, and vacation usage
  • Be creative with solutions for improved work practices, parts utilization, motivation, and training for recommending to Maintenance Manager
  • Assist in development of quarterly training topics and computer-based testing materials
  • Assist in development of SOP’s used to direct the activities of the Maintenance Department
  • Enforce departmental policies and procedures, and establish specific work goals and objectives
  • Recommend changes in work practices and report unresolved problems to the Maintenance Manager
  • Perform work functions in accordance with safe practices, company procedures, and government regulations
  • Communicate with all internal and external customers in a respectful and courteous way
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of experience in fleet or facilities maintenance
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Pass federal background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Acceptable driving record (No serious traffic or license violations within the last five years)
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger and Air-Brake endorsement within one year of hire
  • Ability to schedule, coordinate, and supervise the daily work activities of the Maintenance Department employees
  • Ability to apply knowledge of vehicle diagnosis and repair for discussion with staff, vendors, and Leadership Team
  • Ability to independently make sound decisions
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance
  • Ability to effectively lead, supervise, and develop staff
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, regulations
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and enforce labor contract provisions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, outside contractors, vendors, and other government agencies
  • Ability to recommend changes to the annual and long-range budgets for the Maintenance Department
  • Ability to manage a project from concept to implementation
  • Ability to work independently yet take verbal and written direction
  • Ability to work collaboratively and discuss ideas in a respectful manner
  • Ability to work when needed, including some nights and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to utilize research and report preparation methods
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to effectively utilize communication equipment, including two-way radios, cellular phone, and mobile tablet
  • Ability to meet the physical demands required of this position, including but not limited to bending, kneeling, standing or sitting for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and lifting up to 50 pounds
