Job summary

Canyon Fuel Company – Fossil Rock Mine in Utah seeks a Maintenance Supervisor responsible for safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and processes by maximizing resource utilization. You will supervise hourly workers in continuous miner/longwall maintenance, plan and coordinate projects with the Shift Supervisor, and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Certification requirements include Utah Mine Foreman or Fireboss with ability to obtain Utah Mine Foreman within 1 year and MSHA

Qualifications

• Underground coal mine maintenance leadership experience.
• Active Utah Mine Foreman Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• MSHA Electrical Certification.
• Strong safety and attendance record.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and processes by maximizing the effective utilization of the resources provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Supervise and provide direction to hourly employees in continuous miner, longwall maintenance and/or utility work.
• Plans, organizes, schedules and coordinates with Shift Supervisor all maintenance and/or utility projects.
• Supervises all aspects of safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and processes.
• Implements and maintains compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Task training of personnel as required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five (5) years of underground coal mining maintenance experience
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communications skills both written and oral
• Excellent safety and attendance record
• Utah Mine Foreman Certification or Fireboss & can obtain Utah Mine Foreman Certification with 1 year.
• MSHA Electrical Certification
• Willingness to work needed hours in addition to regular mine schedule.
