Job summary

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for the position of Maintenance Repairer 1. The role performs maintenance in Housing Facilities, including assisting HVAC mechanics, cleaning filters and coils, cooling towers, and air handling units.

Hourly rate is $17.18. Work schedule is Mon-Thu 7:30 am - 5:00 pm with 45-minute lunch and Fri 7:30 am - 12:30 pm.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience or training in building trades, building maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology or engineering, or combination thereof.
• Custodial building maintenance is not qualifying.

Responsibilities

This position performs maintenance functions in the Housing Facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting HVAC Mechanics, cleaning and changing filters and coils, cleaning cooling towers, and cleaning air handling units. Hourly Rate: $17.18 Work Schedule: Mon - Thur 7:30 am - 5:00 pm 45-min lunch and Fri 7:30 am - 12:30 pmMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSOne year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. NOTE: Custodial building maintenance is not qualifying. Examples of building construction trades include cabinetmaker, carpenter, concrete finisher, electrician, HVAC controls technician, HVAC mechanic, ironworker, millwright, painter, pipefitter, plasterer, plumber, refrigeration mechanic, roofer, sheet metal worker, steamfitter, tile setter and welder. Examples of building maintenance include Maintenance Repairer 1/2, B/G/E Maintenance Repairer 1/2 and Maintenance Repair Foreman. Examples of repair/maintenance of mechanical equipment include Operating Engineer 1/2, auto mechanic, Mobile Equipment Maintenance Mechanic, Mobile Equipment Overhaul Mechanic and Mobile Equipment Master Mechanic.When applying, you should list all Education and Work Experience on this application.
