Job summary

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for a Maintenance Repairer 2. This role performs maintenance in the HVAC Shop, requiring knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will clean air handling units, mechanical rooms, cooling towers, log equipment operations, and assist in installing HVAC systems.

The schedule is Monday–Thursday 6:30 am–4:00 pm with a Friday 6:30 am–11:30 am lunch. The hourly rate is $19.67.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in building trades or maintenance.
• Two-year vocational program in building construction, construction tech or engineering.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction tech or engineering.

This position performs maintenance functions in the HVAC Shop. Having a working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing operations are necessary. Maintenance knowledge and experience will aid in cleaning air handling units, mechanical rooms, cooling towers, and equipment. This position will also clean and change filters and coils, oil and grease equipment, log equipment operations, and assist in installing different HVAC systems. Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 am - 4:00 pm, 45-minute lunch and Friday 6:30 am - 11:30 am Hourly Rate: $19.67MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTwo years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. Examples of building construction trades include cabinetmaker, carpenter, concrete finisher, electrician, HVAC controls technician, HVAC mechanic, ironworker, millwright, painter, pipefitter, plasterer, plumber, refrigeration mechanic, roofer, sheet metal worker, steamfitter, tile setter and welder. Examples of building maintenance include Maintenance Repairer 1/2, B/G/E Maintenance Repairer 1/2 and Maintenance Repair Foreman.
