Louisiana State University is seeking an HVAC/Refrigeration Master Mechanic to perform advanced journeyman work in maintaining complex HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role involves overhauls, preventative maintenance, and independent repairs in a fast-paced facilities environment.

• Assists in training HVAC/Refrigeration mechanics and apprentices; may supervise junior staff.

This position requires basic skills in the maintenance of complex HVAC and refrigeration equipment including preventative maintenance duties. **Job Duties:**30%- Overhauls large HVAC and refrigeration equipment and large walk-in food coolers and freezers. Performs preventative maintenance duties such as coolant, change & adjust belts, change air filters and service equipment with lubricants and chemicals. 30% This position requires working independently with minimal supervision to investigate make general advance repairs to buildings' air conditioning/heating systems and other related mechanical equipment such as freezers, fans, etc. 10% Recharges air conditioning system with proper amount of lubricant and refrigerant. Performs air balancing in HVAC distribution systems. 10% Installs, replaces, adjusts and calibrates major components of refrigeration units: compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils and drive assemblies. 5% Overhauls and repairs pumps, motors, control systems, piping and other equipment used in refrigerating and air conditioning systems. 5% Works along side of other advance journeymen to troubleshoot and repair control systems. 5% Assist in the training of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanics and apprentices.
