Job summary

Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking a Maintenance Ranger for Widewater State Park. The role involves general grounds care, maintenance of facilities, trail work, and guest information duties.

The seasonal position runs August 1 to October 31, 2026, with an expected 32 hours per week. Requirements include being at least 18, possessing a valid driver’s license, and ability to handle tools and outdoor work in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to work various shifts including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Primary duties include trash removal, facility cleaning, and grounds maintenance.
• Additional duties include trail maintenance and corridor clearing, light construction such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, etc., maintenance and repair of small engine equipment, informing guests about the park and its rules, and other duties as assigned.
• The seasonal term is from August 1 through October 31, 2026.
• Target hours: 32 hours per week.
