Job summary

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is hiring a Maintenance Ranger for Sky Meadows State Park. This role focuses on routine grounds maintenance, light construction, and park upkeep to ensure safe facilities and clean grounds.

Shifts include closing Monday-Thursday and opening on weekends; the position requires a valid driver’s license and tolerance for outdoor conditions. Benefits accompany full-time employment where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience performing preventative maintenance for grounds, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
• Experience with trades skills such as construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain bathrooms, picnic areas, campsites, and facilities.
• Mow grass and perform general grounds keeping landscape maintenance tasks.
• Remove leaves, trash, and litter from park areas to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Perform basic maintenance and routine care on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Work involves standing, bending, and exposure to outdoor elements.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts is required.
