Job summary

Kraft Heinz Beaver Dam Plant is seeking a Project Technician. The role runs 5PM to 1AM with weekend requirements; starting wage is $34.00/hr plus a $2/hr shift premium.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical systems, read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, and support project coordination in a fast-paced plant environment. Responsibilities include using CMMS and SAP for work orders, documenting actions, and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical knowledge of machines, tools, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Troubleshooting skills to determine causes and corrective action.
  • Ability to read and follow equipment blueprints and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and corrects them using manuals and blueprints.
  • Dismantles machines to access defective parts.
  • Assembles, installs, or repairs pipes, machinery, or equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on pumps, belts, fluids.
  • Documents time spent in SAP and coordinates projects as required.
  • Resolves problems independently or in teams.

Job Description Project Technician Schedule: 5PM to 1AM, weekends can be required Starting Wage: $34.00/hr PLUS $2/hr Shift Premium

Primary Role and Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to accurately correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Dismantles machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Assembles, installs, or repairs pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance, such as inspecting pumps, belts, checking fluid levels, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Reads and follows equipment manuals, blueprints, sketches, layouts, and Maintenance Work Order Requests
  • Works with Predictive Technology Equipment (Thermography, Ultrasound, and Vibration) to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Uses shop equipment to perform repairs (Lathe, Mill, Drill press, Torch, Saws, Grinders, and Welders)
  • Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Works as a team member while completing all assignments efficiently
  • Works with tight measurement tolerances (.000x)
  • Follows all site safety standards (LOTO, PPE)!
  • Documents time spent in plant on the Maintenance Work Order in SAP
  • Coordinates projects (plans, bids, set-up and installation)
  • Resolves problems independently and in groups
  • Works with the storeroom to manage spare parts and inventory
  • Responsible to follow FSQ requirements such as GMPs and other daily/job specific duties to support QRMP
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, including detailed knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active Learning — Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Facilities management software — Computerized maintenance management system CMMS
  • Electronic mail software — Microsoft Outlook

  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships — Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  • Ability to work with a variety of precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, rulers, etc.)
  • Able to use various mechanical hand and power tools
  • Able to work with little or no direct supervision at times
  • Capable of completing all vital training on and off site.
  • Ability to coordinate or lead others
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness — The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • Regularly requires face-to-face discussions
  • Requires the ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Requires the ability to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or hard hats!
  • Requires frequent standing and walking
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Work is performed around industrial equipment
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
  • Requires the ability to work at heights
  • Able to work in tight or confined spaces
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule with extended hours as necessary to cover business needs including the ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
