Position Description

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for managing the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work, including developing, scheduling, optimizing, analyzing, and closing work orders of all types. The ideal candidate should be highly organized and detail-oriented.

Salary range: $70k - $90k (depending on relevant experience)

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining and managing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Manage the work order process to ensure effective use of the system.
  • Track activities and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Optimize maintenance plans and schedules for various maintenance types to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and equipment availability.
  • Coordinate work with planning and production, especially regarding line downtime and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with Spare Parts Coordinator to develop and optimize kitting processes.
  • Ensure all equipment is documented in the CMMS with all necessary PMs.
  • Work with maintenance technicians to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Monitor and improve current maintenance systems and processes.
  • Set up new equipment PMs in the CMMS.
  • Track Maintenance KPIs and develop improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain detailed PMs.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and best practices.
  • Plan shutdowns and utilize PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) methodology for improvements.
  • Plan and schedule third-party maintenance activities, ensuring accurate reflection in the CMMS.
  • Provide backup support for Spare Parts Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor as needed.
  • Train maintenance staff on effective CMMS utilization.
  • Manage resources effectively to meet deadlines, financial, and production targets.
  • Lead and act as change agent within the maintenance organization.
  • Follow company policies, GMPs, and SOPs.
  • Promote a safe working environment among coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical field (or equivalent experience) plus three years in manufacturing, maintenance planning, or inventory coordination, with strong maintenance program experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new applications.
Position-Specific Skills
  • Ability to perform under schedule and cost pressures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing and packaging equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices.
  • Objective, fact-based decision-making skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking abilities.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Working Environment
  • Occasional exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cold, noise, dust, and heat.
  • Compliance with GMPs, SQF, and PPE policies.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments seasonally.
