What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: The Maintenance Planner is expected to follow the maintenance workflow process to maximize effectiveness of the crafts and overall maintenance function. This role will interact regularly with maintenance staff, craftsmen, operation UTL s, and management. Requires a good understanding of and experience with accepted industry practices for planning work, materials, services, technical information, and a good understanding of safe work practices in a chemical plant.Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Follow the Hexion standard maintenance work flow processInteract with operation UTL s in the screening of work notifications to ensure that the scope of work, equipment involved, priority, and expected completion date is understood and realisticWalk job area to clarify scope of work and expectations; take field measurements as needed, and document field information for job planExpertise in planning out job steps and resources which include labor, materials, services, special tools, work instructions, technical information, drawings, safe work permitting, etc.Write work instructions where standard work instructions do not exist; collaborate with discipline specialists and engineers as needed for work instructionsUnderstand basics of all typical maintenance crafts, and know who to contact as specialized resources for planning detailsCommunicate with venders to clarify job scope and obtain quotes for materials and servicesCoordinate regular updates with internal customers to facilitate communication on job planning progress and obstaclesResponsible for preventive maintenance planning in collaboration with discipline specialists and engineers; update task lists as needed to maintain accurate PM job plans; update equipment BOM s as needed to maintain accurate parts lists for planningAssemble and issue job packages; drive continuous improvement in the completeness of the job package as a communication and quality management tool for the maintenance work processMonitor and maintain planning backlog within targeted control limitsMonitor planning accuracy versus target, and drive continuous improvementRequires significant use of SAP in work planning, issuing material/service requisitions, warehouse parts reservations, and tracking parts deliveryOther duties as assigned.Ideal BackgroundEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.Experience: Requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Experience as job planner or estimatorExperience in a chemical plant or in heavy industryExperience in planning in SAPAbility to use Microsoft Office suiteAbility to perform internet searches for job materials or servicesAble to read and interpret vender manuals and drawingsAble to communicate clearly and effectively to craftsmen/operators, venders/suppliers, other departmental staff, and managementAble to organize and plan jobs, and develop job cost estimatesAbility to learn and apply maintenance best practicesHighly motivated, energetic, and self-directedAble to work effectively in a matrix team environmentPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.Hargrove CultureWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
