Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors in Alabama seeks an experienced Industrial Maintenance Planner to support maintenance and reliability in a fast-paced pulp and paper environment. You will plan, schedule, and coordinate work orders to ensure safe, reliable operation of mill equipment.

Develop detailed job plans, manage backlog, and coordinate with Operations while driving improvements in efficiency and cost control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor or Master of Science in Construction Science, Building Science or related field preferred.
• AACE International or PMI certification preferred.
• 10+ years of industrial planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule maintenance work orders from initiation through completion.
• Develop detailed job plans including labor, materials, tools, safety requirements, and procedures.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations and Maintenance teams.
• Manage maintenance backlog and prioritize work by safety, reliability, production impact, and resources.
• Ensure parts, materials, and contractor resources are available before scheduled work.
• Support preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance outages, shutdowns, and major repairs
• Maintain accurate equipment records and CMMS documentation.
• Conduct field walkdowns to confirm scope and requirements.
• Promote compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency and cost control.

What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Planner to support maintenance and reliability activities within a fast-paced pulp and paper manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mill equipment and facilitiesPrimary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Plan and schedule maintenance work orders from initiation through completion.Develop detailed job plans including labor, materials, tools, safety requirements, and work procedures.Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations and Maintenance teams.Manage maintenance backlog and prioritize work based on safety, reliability, production impact, and resource availability.Ensure parts, materials, and contractor resources are available prior to scheduled work.Support preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.Plan and coordinate maintenance outages, shutdowns, and major repair activities.Maintain accurate equipment records and work order documentation within the CMMS.Conduct field walkdowns to verify job scope, equipment condition, and execution requirements.Promote compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and cost control.Ideal BackgroundEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field is highly preferred.Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.Experience: This position requires 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Maintenance planning and scheduling experience preferred.Experience in pulp and paper, tissue, converting, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and equipment reliability.Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, IMaint, or similar systems..Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.Hargrove CultureWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
