Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold high standards of equipment reliability and GMP/Safety practices on the production floor.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and coordinate with production and quality teams to minimize downtime. The role requires the ability to read work orders, document daily activities, operate forklifts, and follow safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ year experience in industrial maintenance or 4 years in related field.
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift, Genie lift or scissor lift or other PITs.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
• Teamwork and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all assigned daily PMs are completed.
• Keep production lines in good mechanical order.
• Assist other teams (Production, Quality) when needed.
• Follow GMPs and safety practices at all times.
• Set up and inspect machinery and equipment; test operations.
• Dismantle defective machines and install replacements when required.
