Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support production lines and ensure equipment reliability across the plant. You will perform PMs, troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, and weld as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

You will work with teams, follow GMP and safety rules, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and reliability in a food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to operate forklifts and lifting equipment; read and follow work orders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all daily PM's are completed.
• Maintain production lines in good mechanical order.
• Assist production and quality teams as needed.
• Follow GMPs and safety practices.
• Set up and inspect machinery; diagnose and repair issues.
• Dismantle and replace defective parts; lubricate and maintain machinery.
• Adhere to ISO 14001 procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
