Job summary

Lowe's RDC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to keep RDC equipment fully operational. The role focuses on one specialty area (conveyors, rolling stock, or building) while maintaining broad skills across the other two.

The technician integrates repair knowledge with safety, planning, ordering parts, and data entry into the CMMS. You will mentor a Maintenance Utility and collaborate with a Mechanic II or Supervisor as needed, supporting safe, reliable facility operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or technical school equivalent.
• 2 years of experience in the specialty area.
• Experience/training in electrical/electronic theory up to 600 volts.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Certified to perform Maintenance Mechanic work where required by regulation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains required certifications as per state/local rules.
• Assesses safety requirements and prepares the task plan.
• Sets up site, performs lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Collects tools and spare parts for the task.
• Uses tools safely and documents PPE checks.
• Evaluates equipment condition and parts needed; plans repair.
• Plans work and executes tasks; mentors Utilities staff as needed.
• Seeks help from senior Mechanics when required.
• Leaves site clean; returns unused parts; updates records.
• Enters data into the CMMS; closes PM work orders.
• Communicates status of work to next shift; supports cross-shift handoffs.
• Demonstrates professional communication with maintenance customers.
• Specializes in two areas: conveyors, rolling stock, or building.
• Diagnoses/repairs complex failures in specialty area with guidance.
