Job summary

Macy’s is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to keep material handling equipment, conveyors, and power industrial truck systems running safely and efficiently. You’ll perform inspections, troubleshoot issues, and execute repairs that minimize downtime in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years of maintenance experience, and strong reading/comprehension of safety rules in English.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience and/or training.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety rules and manuals in English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with colleagues and management.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and work with different measurement units.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment and related warehouse gear.
• Observe machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
• Disassemble, repair, replace, rebuild, assemble, and test equipment and parts.
• Use shop tools (grinders, drills, torches, welder) to repair or join metal components.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area following OSHA and Macy's safety standards.
