Job description

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of precision metals and plastics components, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic, to join our team in East Syracuse.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance, repair tasks, and related activities, which may be performed indoors or outdoors under various working conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform semi-skilled building maintenance and repair, including changing ballasts and light bulbs, repairing toilets, patching sheetrock and tiles, and basic painting tasks.
• Perform manual labor related to building and grounds maintenance and repair.
• Paint surfaces, install baseboard edging, apply floor coatings, perform basic framing and plumbing repairs, and change filters as needed.
• Conduct exterior building maintenance and cleaning, such as power washing, snow and ice removal, and applying salt or de-icing materials during winter.
• Participate in grounds maintenance activities like weed removal and other related tasks.
• Regularly inspect facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Document routine inspections and maintenance activities.
• Notify management of any deficiencies or repair needs.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments as necessary.
• Manage supply rooms and stock supplies.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Maintain adequate janitorial supplies.
• Complete required reports and records.
• Adhere to inspection schedules and complete checklists timely.
• Meet quality and quantity standards.
• Follow safety policies, use personal protective equipment, and maintain good housekeeping.
• Maintain punctuality and adhere to company policies and conduct standards.
• Support ISO quality management processes and the Syteline MIS system.
• Perform other assigned tasks.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three to five years of full-time experience in building construction, maintenance, or repair.
• Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to operate equipment like floor cleaning machines, and use basic tools such as hammers, shovels, and paint brushes.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions and interpret work orders.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
• Attention to detail, motivation to complete tasks independently, and good time management skills.
