Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic – Join the Rescue Mission Team!

Shift: Monday – Friday, 1st shift
Salary: $20 - $25 per hour

The Rescue Mission is actively seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic team and ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality of out Main Campus. In this tole, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our facilities, providing excellent customer service, and supporting a team that makes a positive impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facility Maintenance & Upkeep: Perform minor and major repairs, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the facility meets Rescue Mission standards, including trash removal, window washing, and vacuuming.
• Groundskeeping: Care for the grounds, including mowing, shoveling snow, raking, and maintaining irrigation systems, while ensuring safe conditions through snow removal and deicing.
• Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and equipment repairs, ensuring the facility operates smoothly and efficiently.
• Project Execution & Leadership: Plan, execute, and complete maintenance projects from start to finish, provide leadership and instruction to staff and volunteer groups.
• Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures, setting a positive example for others.
• Team Collaboration & Communication: Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and volunteers.
• Documentation & Reporting: Complete necessary paperwork and reports for preventative maintenance tasks and emergency repairs, ensuring compliance with grants and organizational requirements.
• Mission alignment & attendance: Support the Rescue Mission’s mission, vision, and values while maintaining regular, in-person attendance and contributing to the organization’s goals.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of hand-on maintenance experience.
• Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required.
• Must comply with safety standards and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
• Participation in rotating on-call responsibilities is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Adherence to CDC COVID-19 guidelines, including mask-wearing and vaccination requirements (including booster when eligible) for certain facilities. Full vaccination is strongly encouraged for non-mandated facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position:

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with others.
• Capability to work with or without supervision, taking initiative as needed.
• Basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
• Proficiency in using lawn and snow care equipment, such as shovels, power tools, and wheelbarrows.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of work quality.
