Quanex is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Sioux Falls, SD team. This role focuses on maintaining facility and equipment to ensure optimal performance and achievement of company goals and targets.

Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechanical maintenance experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Basic PLC understanding is needed at minimum.
• Strong safety awareness and OSHA knowledge.
• Experience with machine shop tools and precision measurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned electrical/mechanical preventive maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Read blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs and control systems.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S in assigned areas for safety and cleanliness.
• Follow safety policies and contribute to safety programs as needed.
• Communicate repairs with parts, cost, downtime and ETA.
• Maintain records of production equipment.

What Success Looks Like

• Provide planned electrical/mechanical preventive maintenance and on all plant equipment
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all plant equipment. Including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
• Troubleshoot and view programs to PLCs
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S in assigned areas to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Follow all company safety policies and contribute to safety programs as needed
• Communicate accurately what the repairs may include: parts needed, cost, downtime necessary, estimated completion
• Maintain records of production equipment
• Assist with new equipment design and implementation
• Occasionally will be needed for machining, welding and assembling components

Your Credentials

• Electrical/Mechanical degree or 3-5 years of related work experience
• Prior mechanical and electrical maintenance experience and knowledge
• Basic PLC understanding, at minimum
• Ability to read, write and comprehend written instructions and schematics
• Knowledge and ability to use machine shop tools and measuring equipment.
• Ability to understand and use electrical measuring tools.
• Excellent understand of your responsibilities regarding safety and OSHA

The rate of pay for this position is $25/hour, commensurate with experience.
