Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative and predictive maintenance, repairs, and improvements on industrial equipment and facilities/building equipment in an automated food processing facility. The role emphasizes employee safety, food quality, and machine efficiency.

Here's what you'll do:

1. Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.) for yourself and coworkers.
2. Perform inspections, lubrication, and preventative maintenance on equipment such as weighers, baggers, conveyors, high-speed roll-up doors, and dock doors.
3. Troubleshoot and correct issues with mechanical, electrical (120v, 220v single and three-phase, 480v), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
4. Identify and implement improvements on equipment, documentation, work systems, and processes.
5. Handle minor repairs such as replacing light ballasts, switches, plumbing, painting, and other facility repairs.
6. Collaborate with employees across departments via face-to-face, phone, email, and radio communication.
7. Provide training and development to operators and maintenance personnel.
8. Research system and component specifications using manuals, schematics, online info, and vendor communication.
9. Dismantle and reassemble complex machinery efficiently and precisely.
10. Operate fabrication equipment like cutting and welding tools to modify materials.
11. Create and update work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System and document work details.
12. Research parts, gather quotes, and generate purchase requests.
13. Escalate technical, procedural, or personnel issues to supervisors as needed.
14. Maintain moral integrity consistently.
15. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required; technical degree and 3+ years of related experience preferred.
• Effective English communication skills; bilingual is a plus.
• Ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Problem-solving skills for practical issues with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
• Ability to read and interpret business documents and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Physical ability to frequently move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts, and be available for emergency calls.
