Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for designing and developing technical systems for large, complex projects from schematics through construction administration.

TYPICAL DUTIES - PROJECT RELATED

  1. Develop building system concepts and documentation from schematic design through construction administration within the discipline.
  2. Serve as Discipline Team Leader on large, complex projects when assigned.
  3. Manage and oversee project team members within the discipline.
  4. Prepare and monitor project status reports.
  5. Conduct code research and document findings for projects.
  6. Assist in developing the project cost model and align design accordingly.
  7. Maintain the Mechanical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project.
  8. Research materials and products as required for project development.
  9. Attend project meetings as necessary.
  10. Coordinate with other Discipline Team Leaders.
  11. Respond to client questions/requests within 24 hours.
  12. Review and interpret documents during bidding and construction administration.
  13. Ensure quality architectural and engineering services within the project team.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

TYPICAL DUTIES - NON-PROJECT RELATED

  1. Mentor support engineers to prepare them for greater responsibilities.
  2. Provide performance feedback to the supervisor regarding support engineers.
  3. Identify opportunities for quality and service improvements and participate in their implementation.
  4. Participate in in-house training activities.
  5. Engage in professional organizations and activities.
  6. Acknowledge staff members for exceptional work and going beyond their job expectations.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor's degree and licensure are required.
  2. LEED Accreditation.
  3. Minimum of six years' experience in the A/E industry.
  4. Extensive knowledge of all phases of professional services from schematic design to project close-out, including technical expertise.
  5. Strong understanding of coordination across all design disciplines.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities.
  7. Ability to motivate, mentor staff, and delegate tasks effectively.
  8. Proficiency in computer applications and CADD.
  9. Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable.
  10. Ability to work effectively under deadlines with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to travel to and from project sites for meetings.
  2. Access to existing and new project sites for observation and evaluation.
  3. Use of communication and documentation equipment.
  4. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities effectively.
